An exclusive hotel residence for General Motors executives at the new Ultium plant in Wuhan — a hybrid of executive hospitality and family living.
In 2023, General Motors launched its new Ultium plant in Wuhan, China. In anticipation of the facility's operations, the plant management envisioned an exclusive hotel residence for GM executives assigned to serve in Wuhan.
Going beyond the conventional hotel model, the project was conceived as a hybrid of executive hospitality and family-oriented residential living. Selected units were thoughtfully designed as fully furnished family residences, creating a welcoming home environment where executives and their families could maintain their daily routines and enjoy quality time together.
The design placed family life at its heart, incorporating dedicated spaces and facilities for cooking, dining, learning, entertaining, and family gatherings. By integrating the comfort and functionality of a private home with the services and amenities of a hotel, the residence offered a more holistic living experience tailored to the needs of executives and their families during their assignment in Wuhan.
